Facebook has developed Threads messenger for Instagram users.
Threads will become a direct competitor to Snapchat. According to The Daily Beast data from 2018, users spend a lot more time on Snapchat than on Instagram.

With Threads, users can automatically share with selected users their location, travel speed, battery level on the device, as well as text, photos and videos processed by Instagram editing tools.
